Kessler Canyon, The Kessler Collection’s ultimate outdoor retreat and hunting lodge, has announced the formation of the Kessler Canyon Shooting Academy – one of the country’s top long-range and wing shooting schools: offering an unsurpassed level of expertise in a full-service environment. Students of the academy will learn ethical, proficient and strategic shooting in a variety of regimens in a world-class sportsman’s paradise, with classroom instruction and an emphasis towards hands-on learning taking place on Kessler Canyon’s 23,000 acres of diverse terrain. Three thousand feet of elevation coupled with varied weather patterns, make this one of the most challenging and rewarding testing-grounds for any classification of shooter.
The Kessler Canyon Shooting Academy hosts long-range shooting classes that feature a ‘best of the best’ team of senior specialists. Kessler Canyon’s cadre of instructors include Terry Vaughan, a former Royal British Marine Commando who also appeared on season 4 of The History Channel’s hit competition series “Top Shot,” Elliott Farro, a nationally ranked rifle shooter and instructor to more than 30,000 soldiers through the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, and Hollywood actor and NRA shooting instructor, Marshall Teague. Classes at Kessler Canyon’s Shooting Academy showcase the training and use of pistol, shotgun, CCW and other standard rifle practices. Additionally, students of the school have the opportunity to put their skills right to the test, as the property allows guests to book an all-inclusive stay where instruction is directly followed by a big game hunt.
“Our Shooting Academy offers what no other program does; the ability to bring the most experienced instructors in the world together with the finest brands of outdoor gear, including Swarovski, Weatherby, CC Filson, Danner and Kryptic,” says Kessler Canyon operations manager, Jim McKenzie, a weapons specialist and retired navy chief petty officer. “Students will learn how the proper combination of guns, ammo and optics all lead to perfection in the field. This, plus the nation’s premier full-service outdoor resort and hunting lodge, all point to the most distinct instructional and shooting experience the country has to offer.”
Hidden deep within the canyon along the banks of Brush Creek, Kessler Canyon awaits travelers and hunters ready to awaken their adventurous spirits. Built originally as a private ranch, the Kessler family now invites guests to come enjoy a place they passionately hold near and dear to their heart. Spanning across 23,000 acres of unspoiled wilderness on the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies, this rustic retreat offers luxe facilities and total solitude with plenty of options for guests to discover the magic of the outdoors. The ranch experience comes complete with inspiring accommodations, gourmet cuisine, a friendly professional staff attending to guests’ every need and numerous outdoor recreation activities including everything from guided ATV and Jeep tours, mountain hiking and biking, fly fishing, upland bird and big game hunts, to shooting instruction at the premier Kessler Canyon Shooting Academy.
