Chris Russell Joins Shimano as Senior Manager for Fishing Division

Bringing nearly 21 years of fishing tackle industry experience, Chris Russell has joined Shimano American Corporation as Go to Market Senior Manager, announces Steve Ferrara, Shimano’s fishing division vice president/operations. Russell will have responsibilities with all the Shimano brands, including G.Loomis and PowerPro, and also with Shimano’s sales and marketing efforts for Jackall Lures.

Previously with Wright & McGill Company for the past 12 years where he held marketing, brand management and product development positions, Russell helped with the introduction of Eagle Claw brand terminal tackle products, played a lead role in the successful introduction of Lazer TroKar hooks, and was instrumental in launching the Wright & McGill signature line of products. Prior to his efforts at Wright & McGill, Russell held positions in both fishing tackle retail and buying/sourcing operations.

“Having Chris’s experience behind our various go-to-market strategies will be a exceptional benefit for all our brands,” said Ferrara. “His efforts and success with his previous employer, plus his background and the knowledge he has in the fishing tackle industry will quickly make him a valuable member of Team Shimano.”

While at Wright & McGill, Russell was active with the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Division as chairman of its Public Education and Awareness Council. He implemented a program where all Wright & McGill employees received Colorado fishing licenses as part of their annual benefit package. He also contributed his time and skills to various projects for the American Sportfishing Association.
