25,000 to be Awarded at Maryland Fishing Challenge Finale Saturday

WHAT: 2013 Maryland Fishing Challenge featuring Diamond Jim Finale at the Maryland Seafood Festival

WHERE: Sandy Point State Park 1100 East College Parkway Annapolis, MD 21409

WHEN: Saturday, September 7, 2013 Registration from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.

A total of 39 anglers – a record number! – will check their tag numbers at the big reveal during Saturday’s 2013 Maryland Fishing Challenge Finale event to see if one of them will walk away a $25,000 winner. Nearly 1,000 anglers are also eligible for door prizes including a boat and trailer package from Tracker Marine, a Bahamas vacation package from the World Fishing Network, thousands of dollars in fishing gear from Bill’s Outdoor Center and Bass Pro Shops, and merchandise from Under Armour.

Over the summer, 55 anglers were lucky enough to catch Diamond Jim tagged striped bass, 16 of which have been certified as “imposters.” The lucky remaining 39 caught fish that could be worth anywhere from $10,000 to $25,000. Those who caught imposters will receive the minimum $500; or split the $25,000 if there is no Diamond Jim winner.

For the fourth year, DNR is teaming up with the Maryland Seafood Festival to create a fun and exciting atmosphere for all the eligible anglers.
