The Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) is proud to support Nantucket Holidays For Heroes to be held at the newly-build VFW Post 8608 in Nantucket. This sold-out event on September 13 will feature Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA) and is being coordinated as a special tribute to our wounded heroes.
“On behalf of Holidays for Heroes I would like to thank Jim Donofrio of the Recreational Fishing Alliance for his hard work on our behalf in securing items for our September 13th auction,” said Mike Lindley, a hardcore Massachusetts angler and Marine Corps veteran. “Jim was able to get the fishing industry to donate several items, from Lamiglas 9-foot surf rods to Ballyhood tuna lures, Bimini Bay sunglasses to an assortment of Tsunami Lures.”
Thousands of men and women have given their all in defense of the liberties America holds so dear, and at Holidays for Heroes, it is their mission and responsibility to honor their sacrifice in thought, to reciprocate their commitment to country in deed, and to participate in a fellowship with our soldiers that proclaims we are proudly American
“Holidays For Heroes is in its first year and we are confident we are going to help these wounded Veterans immensely,” Lindley added.
Fishing industry supporters for this special event featuring Lee Greenwood on September 13 include Steve Amato and Viking Yachts, the team from Bimini Bay Outfitters, Dick Posey from Lamiglas rods, the team from Ballyhood lures, as well as the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA).
“It’s easier fighting for our right to fish in the United States when so many American heroes have made the ultimate sacrifice in fighting to protect our freedom as a nation,” Donofrio said today. “September 11 is Patriot’s Day, and I know I speak on behalf of our RFA membership nationwide when I give sincere thanks to those American patriots who have fought for this great nation of ours.”
