Several Nebraska Fishing Records Certified

Several Nebraska fishing records have been certified since July, including two by archer Ryan Reynolds of Lexington. The first was a 2-ounce alewife he arrowed July 22 at Elwood Reservoir in Gosper County. The second was a 3-pound, 9-ounce smallmouth bass taken Aug. 10 at Phillips Canyon Reservoir, also in Gosper County.

Three other archery records have been set. Josh Kern of Fremont took a 40-pound, 13-ounce blue catfish July 11 in the Platte River in Dodge County. Logan Dietrich of Alliance took a 3.7-ounce flathead chub July 25 in the Middle Loup River in Thomas County. Scott Hebblethwaite of Paxton shot an 11-pound, 12-ounce wiper Oct. 19 in the Sutherland Supply Canal in Keith County.

One hook-and-line record was set. Hunter Pitt of Hastings used a nightcrawler to catch an 11-ounce creek chub July 5 in a Dodge County drainage ditch. Caleb Gardner of Norfolk set a surface spearfishing record when he took a 4-pound, 5-ounce shortnose gar July 6 at Gavins Point Dam in Cedar County.
