Consider the Frabill Exhibit Your Top-Stop at this Weekend’s St. Paul Ice Fishing Show
OutdoorHub 12.03.13
Without debate, it’s billed as “The largest ice fishing show in the country.” And frankly, it’s the most significant ice fishing event in the world. The volume of ice fishing gear on display is unimaginable. That, and for three days, St. Paul’s RiverCentre welcomes ice fishing’s cognoscenti, sharing their deepest angling insights while pairing anglers with personally selected products.
Inside the greater show sits the working man’s think tank of ice fishing: Frabill. Owning the most aggregate years of ice fishing intelligence, Frabill pro staffers will be mingling midst the iconic black and yellow shelters all weekend. We’re talking about guys and gals you’ve actually heard of, the real trendsetters in ice fishing.
Leading the brigade is ice fishing’s modern marvel, Brian “Bro” Brosdahl. Not cooped up in a dark seminar corner, Bro will be meeting and greeting daily under the Frabill big-top. Joining him are freshwater fishing pioneers Scott and Marty Glorvigen; Wisconsin wildman and venerated guide Pat Kalmerton; “North American Fisherman TV” host Eric Haataja; walleye fishing legend Dale Stroschein; the first female professional walleye tour champion, Marianne Husky; European ice fishing imports Jacek Gawlinski and Zibi Wojcik; and one of the most decorated angling experts of all time, Steve Pennaz.
Adding to Frabill’s magnetic draw are several motivating giveaways. For starters, the first 60 folks to reach the booth on Friday will receive a free Frabill branded foam hockey puck. Not a bad perk in The State of Hockey. Beats old chew cans covered in duct tape.
Next, Frabill is handing out 1,000 Stowaway mini tackle boxes. These gems are primo for managing a fistful of jigs. And for younger up-and-coming ice anglers, there are free Frabill branded dip nets; proven for hours of minnow scooping entertainment in the fish house.
New gear is really the crux of the matter. Frabill will demo, while retailers sell, an avalanche of new ice fishing products. First and foremost are the new SideStep shelters. The “why didn’t I think of that” design features zippered doors on the sides, enabling anglers to slip in and out without disturbing that perfect heater-sonar-underwater camera-bait bucket arrangement. SideStep is available on the new Fishouflage Ambush, Ambush Deluxe and Ambush Thermal shelters.
Other must-see (must-have, really) new products include Frabill’s Bro Series Straight Line 261 reels and combos, Fishouflage Headquarters and Outpost premium hub-style shelters, Frabill softbag, Telescoping Jiggler Rods (64 and 54-inch), Snow Shoe Tip-Up and much, much more.
If you haven’t been to the St. Paul Ice Fishing Show before, it’s a bit overwhelming. Good luck covering it all in one day. So to best utilize your time, stick a Post-It note that says ‘Frabill’ on your dashboard. It’ll be the most significant stop you make from ticket counter to the exits, barring the bathroom, of course.
