Larson Electronics Engineers New Frac Pad LED Lighting Trailer System

Larson Electronics has developed a new Frac Pad LED Lighting Trailer System that is unprecedented in the industry.

The trailer contains 6 carts and umbilical cable system for pad areas 300 feet by 500 feet in size. This system includes transport trailer with air compressor and generator, six portable cart LED light towers and the umbilical system that carries air and power to each cart. Most importantly, it can be delivered to its site with a single pickup truck and is completely customizable to the customer’s specifications.

The trailer serves as central source for power and compressed air and contains a bar style locking mechanism to secure the carts during transport. Operators use the trailer mounted, swing arm jib boom to get the carts safely off the trailer. A single operator can easily maneuver the carts into position. The trailer includes 6.5KW diesel generator, Air Compressor with 30 gallon tank and air dryer, a power distribution panel and two step-down transformers (120 volt to 48 volts).

The carts are equipped for durability with run-flat tires, a 30 foot pneumatic mast and two 300 Watt LED light heads and fold down outriggers for support. Once the carts reach their position, the operator uses the marked umbilical to connect one cart to the next.  The air will enable the mast to elevate and the power will activate the light heads. Larson has equipped the system with  48 Volts AC on the umbilical to minimize the wire size and the weight of the umbilical system. The air dryer and pressure regulator on the trailer will ensure that the appropriate air pressure is available to the light mast. The trailer and wheeled carts are blasted and powder coated.

“Necessity has always been the mother of invention, and this innovative and customiable system is no different,” Rob Bresnahan, with Larsonelectronics.com said. “This solution allows for a centralized engine and compressor, which means less maintenance and fuel and a single truck can tow the entire system to the site.”
