Holiday Donation Expands Veteran Support

Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) announces receipt of a special holiday-2013 donation from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) in support of its mission to assist disabled veterans and injured active duty military in rebuilding confidence in their future through active participation in outdoor sports. NSSF, already a major HAVA sustaining sponsor, reallocated monies intended to fund holiday greeting cards to members in order to further support HAVA’s works. The incremental donation will specifically fund future HAVA hunts or a Family Day range event wherein scores of veterans, spouses and their children are treated to a full day of outdoor fun, food, celebrities and prizes.

Tom Taylor, HAVA Chairman noted, “NSSF, as the industry leader, was an early supporter of the HAVA idea that the shooting sports industry should make a strong statement in support of those American heroes who have suffered serious injuries in defense of freedom. Their financial support is pivotal for us, but more important is their help in educating our entire industry about the cause. We now are entering our seventh year of existence and NSSF’s support is growing steadily.”

“HAVA’s mission is close to our hearts particularly during this holiday season, and NSSF is pleased to offer our continuing leadership to their efforts on behalf of our members,” said Steve Sanetti, NSSF Chairman. “Many of our companies’ leaders are ex-military, and an increasing number of our members are appreciating the enormity of the task of veteran rehabilitation and the positive contribution that the industry is making through HAVA — now the shooting sports industry’s best statement of America’s ongoing commitment to our disabled veterans and their families. HAVA already is supported by dozens of NSSF’s members, and we encourage all of our companies to consider contributing to this most worthy of causes directly.”
