OutdoorHub 01.16.14
With the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s SHOT Show beginning in Las Vegas on January 14, 2014, Jake Challand, Hank Hockey and Greg Bakken make their predictions on the new products likely to have the biggest impact at the show. As the record-setting firearms sales in 2013 show, the gun industry had a banner year. Nevertheless, the top manufacturers continue to put out new and exciting products, some of which are sure to have a tremendous effect on the industry going forward. Will Glock steal the show with the much anticipated .380 ACP Glock 42 or might Remington make the biggest splash in the handgun market with its R-51? FN Herstal, Kel-Tec and Rainier Arms are all expected to release new modern sporting rifles, but will the AR-15 style .338 Lapua rifle from Sword International create the most buzz in the rifle category. The guys discuss these guns and more while having fun with their predictions concerning the biggest successes and even the biggest disappoints ahead of one of the most exciting weeks of the year for gun enthusiast.
During the SHOT Show, GGR and other shows across the Firearms Radio Network will be putting out as much video and print content as possible through http://firearmsinsider.tv/shotshow/. Brownell’s Paul Levy brings us the Law Tactical AR-15 Folding Stock adapter, which allows an AR-15 to have a folding stock. This normally is not possible because the buffer tube in the stock is integral to the operation of the rifle. “What Law Tactical did is pretty ingenious in my opinion. They basically extended the buffer tube out a little bit and then put a hinge there between the lower receiver and the buffer tube.” The adapter is all aluminum construction and it only adds one inch to the over length of pull on the rifle, which should not affect the fit of a rifle with a collapsible stock. This adapter works well for all manner of transporting the gun in whether in a case or while carrying it.
