School of Fish Adds Sponsor Minn Kota

School of Fish, a Minnesota-based kids fishing education program, announced the addition of Minn Kota as a sponsoring partner today joining Humminbird, another Johnson Outdoors brand in sponsoring School of Fish.

Designed as a 3-hour fishing class for upper elementary age and older kids, School of Fish hosted 24 classes in 2013 and has “graduated” 512 students! Taught in a fast-paced, “fun” environment, kids learn about finding and catching fish, how to tie a fishing knot, and how to rig their own slip-bobber set-up. Plus, School of Fish ON ICE kids learn about the importance of using winter sonar to increase their fishing successes and enjoyment.

Additionally, kids leave class as “ice or water ready” anglers with their own rod & reel, tackle pack, and more.

“We are thrilled to have Minn Kota on board as a sponsor,” said Mike Frisch, one of the School of Fish founders. “Minn Kota makes the best trolling motors on the planet and their new Talon anchoring systems are awesome too,” Frisch added. “We are fortunate to have the backing of some of the leading brands in the entire fishing industry,” he concluded!

School of Fish is offered in an open-water and ice fishing format to fishing/sportsman’s clubs, civic organizations, and retailers. Schools are designed as turn-key opportunities, providing the materials and doing the work, while the local group gets the recognition of providing a great opportunity for their community.

“School of Fish is such an important program for the future of fishing,” said Tim Price, Johnson Outdoor’s Pro Staff Manager. “Getting our young anglers involved and excited about fishing and the outdoors is so important right now in this day in the age of computers and TV,” Price stated.

“Mike and this program are doing a fabulous job and we at Minn Kota are very excited to be partnered with School of Fish,” Price added. “This is a great opportunity for kids to see Minn Kota’s latest technologies and fish-catching tools and Mike breaks it down for his students to understand – the end result is to help them catch fish and have fun doing it,” Price concluded!

The Minn Kota brand is manufactured by the Marine Electronics Group of Johnson Outdoors. 2009 marked the 75th anniversary of Minn Kota Motors. Since its founding, Minn Kota has led the way in product innovation and cutting-edge technology.
