Weatherby has joined Kryptek and other sponsors to support the Chris Kyle Memorial Roping and Auction, a fundraiser for Base Camp 40 – Warriors in the Wild.
The event, as detailed at www.chriskylememorialroping.com, is scheduled for Feb. 7-9 at the Circle T Arena in Hamilton, Texas. Team Weatherby member Bear Pascoe, a tight end for the New York Giants in the NFL, will participate in team roping with retired professional bull rider Ross Coleman, who is being sponsored by Weatherby for this occasion. Taylor Nahrgang, Weatherby’s marketing manager and active rodeo cowboy, will also compete in team roping with Coleman.
For the auction, Weatherby has donated a custom Mark V Ultra Lightweight rifle in the 7mm-08 Remington caliber. The rifle’s stock features the Micro Kryptek Typhon camouflage pattern.
“We want to do our part for the Chris Kyle family and their causes as a tribute to his strong support of veterans, his own battlefield heroics and his love of hunting,” said Mike Schwiebert, vice president, marketing for Weatherby, Inc. “Weatherby is looking forward to attending the Memorial Roping and Auction and honoring Chris, who was a cowboy at heart.”
Widely recognized as an American hero, Navy SEAL Chief Kyle was the author of two New York Times best sellers, “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History” and “American Gun, A History of the U.S. in Ten Firearms.” In February 2013, Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield were tragically killed in a shooting while trying to help a fellow veteran.
Base Camp 40 – Warriors in the Wild hosts elk hunts for military veterans. The nonprofit program is now being conducted in honor of Chris Kyle, a past participant. For more information, visit www.bc40hunts.com.
Team Weatherby member Pascoe grew up in central California, where his family runs a working cattle ranch. At the age of 15, his skills in the rodeo arena had won him several team roping jackpots as well as high school and open rodeo events. A Team Weatherby overview can be found at www.TeamWeatherby.com.
