STI’s Kaci Cochran is High Lady at the Georgia State Steel Match

The results are in from the Georgia State Steel match, which was held January 31 and February 1 at the Griffin Gun Club in Griffin, Georgia.

Kaci Cochran successfully battled cold weather and rare Georgia snow on her way to winning the highly competitive Open division and was also the winner of the High Lady overall title. She was 2nd Overall in the .22 Open division and 4th Overall in the Limited Division. She used her custom STI pistols in Open and Limited and a modified Browning Buckmark in the .22 Open contest.

Steel Shooting involves shooting different arrays of 5 white steel plates of various sizes at varying distances, and the goal is simply to shoot them as fast as possible. Competitors shoot each array 5 times and the slowest time is discarded before the remaining times are combined to form each competitor’s score.

The white snowy background made the shooting more challenging than usual, and although Kaci is no fan of cold weather she was able to overcome the snow and cold and add these new titles to her growing list of accomplishments.

At 23 years old, Kaci Cochran is the current IPSC Ladies US National Open Champion and holds many regional and national titles in Steel Shooting and USPSA/IPSC Shooting. She began shooting with her father at age 13 and has been shooting competitively since then. She is currently training for the IPSC World Shoot as a member of the Ladies Open Team.
