Johnson 3-Gun Range Officer Practice Clinic Set
OutdoorHub 02.13.14
Johnson 3-Gun, who also runs the He-Man 3-Gun National Championship, and this year’s JP Rocky Mountain 3-Gun World Championship, decided 2 years ago to start a practice for Natural Terrain match RO’s. On April 12 and 13, 2014, Johnson 3-Gun will have its 3rd annual RO Practice Clinic at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico.
RO’ing a Natural Terrain match has many of its own challenges. The weekend will cover a general overview of rules – specifically for JP RM3G and He-Man, as it’s geared to range officers that work at the Whittington Center – but we will cover other major natural terrain match rules as well.
We cover preset for the stage, troubleshooting a stage, RO traps, reset, running shooters, after the shooter has finished, prepping, stage maintenance and supplies, the end of the shooter’s run, transition from shooter to shooter and what to do at the end of a match. The responsibilities of a Natural Terrain RO are many and varied.
The practice is geared to RM3G World Championship and He-Man 3-Gun Championship RO’s. However, we welcome anyone who wants to get some practice working as a range officer at any match.
On Saturday, we will spend the morning with some inside time, and then head out to the stages to look them over. We will run some shooters and get some practice in, so bring your guns. On Sunday, we will have a regular local match with 4 stages, those RO’s practicing will be running the other shooters through.
It’s a full weekend with lots of fun! RO’s can attend Saturday only or both days! Saturday or Sunday only is $30, both days will be $50. Both days start at 0900.
