The April issue of S.W.A.T. Magazine is already being mailed to subscribers and hits newsstands everywhere March 4. Fair warning: You won’t want to miss this one!
Before AR-platform guns were so prevalent, the carbine found in many patrol cars and beside nightstands was the M1 Carbine. We were curious how the M1 would fare against an AR-15 carbine in a head-to-head competition. The results may surprise you-they surprised us.
Some have said that the venerable 12-gauge slide-action shotgun is a thing of the past. We don’t happen to agree and that’s why the April S.W.A.T. Sweepstakes features a Remington 870 Express Tactical Magpul Shotgun. As the name implies, this shotgun is equipped with the Magpul SGA stock and Magpul MOE forend. It’s loaded with other features to make it a true tactical shotgun. This Sweepstakes also includes Hornady Premium Critical Defense 12-gauge buckshot along with eye and ear protection.
To complement the Sweepstakes, the April issue features a review of the Rock Island Armory M5 Shotgun. The M5 is priced to sell, but we question if it’s really worth even a low price.
The DoubleTap derringer-type pistol has received favorable write-ups from some gun writers. You’ll want to read Editor Denny Hansen’s honest, hard-hitting review before you spend your hard-earned money on one. (Hint: DoubleTap will probably not be advertising in S.W.A.T.)
In other articles, we run pocket pistols at speed, advise on protecting against biological and chemical threats, demonstrate fighting grips with a knife, and much more, including S.W.A.T.’s must-read columns.
