Join the Recreational Fishing Alliance’s New Jersey chapter (RFA-NJ) this week at the New Jersey Boat Sale & Expo in Edison. Produced by the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey (MTA/NJ), it’s the last of the regional boat shows before the fishing season gets underway in New Jersey.
The New Jersey Boat Sale & Expo features something for every age and interest with boats on sale from over 30 of the top dealers in the state, as well as an expansive boater’s marketplace full of boating accessories and services, free seminars, activities for the little boaters and more.
Fishing seminars get underway on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with RFA managing director Jim Hutchinson, Jr. with a look at trophy striped bass. That’s followed by a spotlight on the effects of wind and tide on the bite with Gerry Zagorski of NJFishing.com at 5:30 p.m. and safe boating on Raritan Bay with Capt. Vinny Mafinsky of Morning Dew Sportfishing at 6:30 p.m.
Seminar speakers from Friday through Sunday also feature Capt. Gene Nigro of Phantom Sportfishing, Jay Smida of Interlux Paints and Capt. Scott Newhall of Time Out Charters. Check out www.jerseyboatexpo.com/seminars_ed.html for the full listing of seminar topics and speakers.
The boat show is open on Thursday and Friday from noon-8 p.m., Saturday 10-8 and Sunday 10-5. The Convention & Expo Center at Raritan Center is at 97 Sunfield Avenue in Edison. Look for the RFA-NJ at booth number 11, just a hundred paces from the fishing seminar area!
Admission is $6 person, 16 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. All ticket purchases include free registration to the Jersey Shore Beach N Boat Fishing Tournament at the show (a $20 value). Discounted advance tickets can also be purchased online at JerseyBoatExpo.com.
