Professional walleye circuit welcomes innovative action camera company
The Cabela’s National Walleye Tour (NWT) continues to add to an impressive list of sponsors with the recent addition of iON Cameras, a leading manufacturer of action cameras designed for active, outdoor lifestyles. The multi-year agreement was finalized as the NWT prepares for the 2014 season opener scheduled for April 25-26 on the Detroit River.
“Action cameras are growing rapidly in popularity, especially among fishermen,” said Anthony Wright, tournament director. “Many of our anglers already embrace the technology and will love the chance to work with iON. They build an outstanding product and we’re thrilled to have their support for the NWT.”
“The National Walleye Tour represents a great opportunity and platform for us to reach a key audience,” said iON Cameras CEO Giovanni Tomaselli. “Our products are an ideal fit for anglers and are designed to withstand the rigors of being on the water. We’re excited about the partnership and look forward to working with the NWT for years to come.”
The National Walleye Tour will begin this season April 25, 2014, and includes a total of three qualifying events, plus a year-end championship. The NWT website is currently accepting registrations for all events online. The website offers numerous details on the circuit; including official rules, tournament structure, payout and incentives.
Each NWT event features over 100 percent payback. A fully rigged Ranger Boat, plus cash, is guaranteed for first place at each event – a total value of $57,000. Anglers that fish all three regular-season events, in addition to the top points leaders, will qualify for the three-day, entry-fee championship.
The circuit also includes unprecedented television and media coverage, allowing a national audience to watch the action unfold from each event throughout the season. Airing on multiple networks, the National Walleye Tour will be seen on The Texas Channel, World Fishing Network, Pursuit Channel, as well as the new NBC Sports Network.
