With a dynamic two-to-one ratio of students to instructors, the All-Star Walleye School puts anglers in the boat – and in the classroom – with America’s top-knotch walleye instructors. The instructors are tried and true, tournament after tournament, year after year. Collectively these anglers have won millions of dollars and captured dozens of wins and top honors including angler of the year and championships. Ready for up to 16 students in the classroom, the following instructors are on deck this year: Kevin McQuoid, Mark Courts, Brian “Bro” Brosdahl, Bill Shimota, Dan Stier, Eric Olson, Jason Przekurat and Korey Sprengel. Each will share their skills and techniques on the water in their Evinrude-powered Ranger Boats as well as during focused, classroom educational sessions. Now in its fourth year, the All-Star Walleye School will be in Wisconsin’s famed Door County, August 12 – 15, 2014 at the Lodge at Letham Smith in Sturgeon Bay.
“We’d like to shine the spotlight on two of our instructors: Mark Courts and Kevin McQuoid,” said Chip Leer, host of the school. Leer is a familiar face in the walleye fishing world as emcee of the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour (NWT). Leer’s work in the past with the Professional Walleye Trail (PWT) and the Forrest L. Wood Walleye Tour (FLW) means Chip has personally seen these guys work for big walleyes in all different conditions across numerous bodies of water. “We not only select great anglers with a proven track record of bringing in big fish in when the pressure is on and decision-making is key, but we also bring in the guys that can articulate and teach what they do to others. That’s what makes this school so unique.”
Kevin McQuoid and Mark Courts have been instructors with the All-Star Walleye School in the past three years as well as heading into year four in Wisconsin. Both have numerous wins and honors under their belt, such a angler or team of the year, but the skill of communicating with the students is where they really shine. “Had the best fishing day of my life with Kevin McQuoid,” said Ray Genrich after last year’s school. “I enjoyed his relaxed style and knowledge. And Mark Courts was very informative on the water.”
“We get to combine the principles and thinking in the classroom with the actual hands-on application and experience in the boat,” shared Mark Courts. “It makes a difference to take what we cover in the classroom and apply it – immediately. We can see the light bulbs going off when they really get the nuances to what we’re doing.”
