Gun Digest announces the inaugural issue of Modern Shooter Magazine, a quarterly publication focused on the excitement surrounding the latest recreational guns and gear.
The new magazine’s scope and content parallel the new Modern Shooter television show, which will debut on the Sportsman Channel in January 2015. Conceived with today’s firearm owner in mind, Modern Shooter highlights the cutting-edge guns, gear and training that are so in demand. Each issue will focus on a firearms category theme with industry experts and authors weighing in on the topics that matter.
In the premiere issue on the AR-15, Modern Shooter teamed up with category sponsor Colt to create reviews of Colt’s new LE6920MP-USA and AR15A4 rifles, as well as commentary on AR accessories such as optics, sights, rails, adjustable stocks and more.
Editor-in-Chief Doug Howlett opens the issue with an observation on how the AR-15 has become an iconic American rifle. Modern Shooter readers can also look forward to Richard A. Mann’s 12 training drills designed to increase shooting mastery of the rifle and Tiger McKee makes a case for why the AR might be the only home defense tool an individual will ever need in his article, “Defend Your Castle.” Other topics include how to tear down and care for the AR rifle, tips on customizing and a look at the fascinating history behind Colt’s Manufacturing.
Look for Modern Shooter on most newsstands in April. The new magazine is also available in digital format at www.gundigeststore.com.
