Scholarships may be awarded one of two ways: direct payment to an educational institution or the creation and funding of an IRS 529 College Savings Plan. The NTOA “James Torkar Educational Scholarship” will be awarded with a parent or duly appointed guardian as the owner and the dependent child as the beneficiary.
Applicants must be dependent children of members with active NTOA “Individual” memberships, who are at least 16 years old and a U.S. citizen to qualify for the scholarship. Any active “Individual” member consistent with the above requirements may sponsor a child of a deceased NTOA member for a scholarship. Family members of NTOA employees and directors are not eligible for this award.
If you are not an NTOA member, this is a great opportunity to join. Questions regarding the scholarship or member process can be made to NTOA at 800-279-9127 ext. 110 or by email to membership@ntoa.org.
