Remains of a famed pirate ship are discovered off the coast of Massachusetts, and professional treasure hunter Berry Clifford digs in and gives Amazing America with Sarah Palin field host Benny Spies, a glance at how the ship was found nearly 300 years later. Also in this week’s episode, field-host Mark Christopher Lawrence visits with taxidermist Dennis Harris to learn his methods of the taxidermy trade. Tune in to Amazing America with Sarah Palin, exclusively on Sportsman Channel, Thursday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Catch a sneak peek here: http://thesportsmanchannel.com/shows/amazing-america
Spies visits the treasure lab to learn the history behind Whydah, the first pirate ship ever recovered off the coast of North America. The men who found the ship, Clifford and his team, are still recovering items from the ship today, in hopes of better understanding the ship’s inhabitants and the treasure they carried.
“Seeking real pirate treasure? That’s something this South Dakota country boy never thought he would do in a day’s work – and yet, here I am,” said Spies. “These guys are crazy as they fight to protect their work, their treasure and still have hope there’s more to discover.”
Viewers also will meet Harris, a taxidermist and trophy room consultant, who started his own taxidermy business when he was just 21 years old. Field host Mark Christopher Lawrence visits Harris’ studio to gain an understanding of the craftsmanship and detail Harris puts into every project he encounters – everything from standard taxidermy to custom sculpting of lifelike outdoor scenes.
