Team Benelli 3-Gun members, Taran Butler and James Casanova took top honors in their respective divisions at the 2014 USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals held last weekend at the Desert Sportsman’s Rifle & Pistol Club in Las Vegas. Butler placed first in Open Division while Casanova won Limited Division and Team Benelli lady 3-gunner, Janna Reeves, ranked 3rd among the ladies in Tactical Division.
The match offered shooters a challenging natural terrain event with plenty of dust. Some even felt this match was one of the most difficult of all the USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals with 12 demanding stages, requiring over 500 rounds to be fired. Combine that with the hot weather and it made for a grueling 2 ½ days of shooting in the Nevada desert.
“The match had multiple moving and turning targets and was very technical,” Casanova described. “It didn’t help that we had sand and volcanic ash flying around. I was glad I had a Benelli, which performed without a hiccup.”
“I want to thank all my incredible sponsors,” Butler said during his acceptance speech Sunday evening. “Also my amazing crew at Taran Tactical, Innovations, without all of you I would not have been able to achieve my 11th National Title.”
