Proceeds benefit Massachusetts’ Genesis Foundation for Children

From June 5-8, Martha’s Vineyard’s iconic Harbor View Hotel will host The John Havlicek Celebrity Fishing Tournament to benefit The Genesis Foundation for Children, a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for the diagnosis and compassionate, coordinated care of children born with physical and intellectual disabilities, and genetic disorders.

The weekend’s main event takes place on Saturday, June 7, when guests and competitors depart from Oak Bluffs Harbor for a day-long release fishing tournament off the island’s scenic coast. Activities such as a BBQ lunch, golf at Farm Neck Golf Club, and a comedy show can also be enjoyed over the weekend. Participation is $3,500 per person and $1,000 for a guest. The fee includes:

• Round-trip transportation between Falmouth, Mass. and Martha’s Vineyard
• Three nights’ accommodations at Harbor View Hotel
• Meals prepared prepare by Harbor View’s Chef Nathan Gould
• Fishing tournament
• Golf or tennis tournaments
• Nightly entertainment

Havlicek, a Basketball Hall of Famer and former player for the Boston Celtics, has steered the fishing tournaments for the past 33 years alongside sports legends like Willie Mays and Joe DiMaggio. This year’s event will welcome Jay Miller, formerly of the Boston Bruins; Carlton Fisk and Jim Lonborg of Red Sox fame; actor Jim Sikking; and Massachusetts-based comedians, Don Gavin and Patty Ross.
