Gold Tip Pros, Sharon Carpenter and Joseph Goza WIN at Paris, TX ASA

Gold Tip shooters enjoyed dominant success at the recent ASA Pro Am, held in Paris, TX April 25-27th, including victories by Joseph Goza in the Men’s Open Pro and Sharon Carpenter in the Women’s Pro Divisions. All told, Gold Tip shooters accounted for six of the top ten Open Pro shooters, seven of the top 10 Senior Pro shooters, the Women’s Pro winner, and the top five shooters in the Known 50 division.

In the Men’s Open Pro class, fellow Gold Tip shooter, Jamie Jamison, led the tournament all weekend, but it was the veteran, Goza, that hung tough in windy conditions to capture the win with a twelve on the last target of the final shoot off. Jamison finished second. Goza was using Gold Tip Triple X Pro’s and Jamison was using Gold Tip Ultralight Pro X-cutters. Both men were using Bee Stinger Premier Plus stabilizer systems.

Sharon Carpenter won the Women’s Pro Division.

In the Women’s Pro division, Sharon Carpenter, who has grown from rising star to proven veteran, led the Women’s Pro division from the very start of the tournament, carrying her success into the final shoot off with a 20 point lead over her nearest competitor. Despite tricky winds, she held her lead handily and took home the victory. Carpenter was shooting Gold Tip Ultralight Pro Series 22 shafts.

At the ASA outdoor 3-D event, Pro Division contestants shoot two rounds of twenty targets from unmarked distances that vary in distance up to 50 yards. The five highest scores from the first two rounds qualify for the shoot-off to decide the winner. In the Known 50 class, shooters compete on the same course as the Pro Divisions, but are allowed to use rangefinders to determine actual target distance. Armed with “known” yardages, the contestants compete purely upon accuracy and strategy.

“The Texas winds made for tough conditions at this weekend’s ASA Pro/Am, in Paris, but the Gold Tip arrows were hitting their mark and our shooters experienced continued success in all categories, “ said Mitch McKay, Gold Tip Sales Director. “Dealing with the tough winds also made stability a key issue, and Bee Stinger Stabilizers showed once again why they play such an important part of our Pro Staff’s success, tournament after tournament.”
