Cabela’s Partnership Brings Fishing Tournament to Central Ohio

2014 Student Angler Federation (SAF) Ohio High School Fishing State Championship presented by Cabela’s, May 10
Cabela’s Columbus has worked with The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW to bring the 2014 Student Angler Federation (SAF) Ohio High School Fishing State Championship presented by Cabela’s to Central Ohio. The championship will take place Saturday, May 10 at Alum Creek State Park, Galena Ramp.
The tournament festivities will kick off Friday, May 9 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm with the check-in and rules meeting taking place a Cabela’s, 1650 Gemini Place, Columbus, OH.
The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9-12. Each team is accompanied on the water by their “coach” who is also the boat operator.
For the past three years the tournament has been held on the Ohio River in Southeast Ohio. With it now being held in Central Ohio it makes it more accessible from anywhere in the state which could generate more participation.
“It’s great that Cabela’s is able to support this exciting tournament and bring it to Central Ohio,” said Derrek Shively, retail marketing manager. “We strive to open new opportunities for youth to enjoy the outdoors and with this year’s tournament being in Columbus it should open the doors to other areas of the state. Additionally, our store is looking forward to hosting all the anglers and their families for registration on Friday night.”

Sign-up: Pre-register online at www.HighSchoolFishing.org or a $25 late registration fee applies to those registering onsite.
Mandatory Check-in: Friday, May 9 from 5:30pm -7:00pm with the rules meeting to follow at Cabela’s, 1650 Gemini Place Columbus, OH.
Takeoff & Weigh-in: Saturday, May 10 at Alum Creek State Park’s new Galena Ramp. Take off at sunrise and weigh-in starting at 3pm
