World Fishing Journal Rocks this May

Rock the Ocean with the Tortuga Music Festival and Sit in the Front Row as Mikey & The Reelers Play the 2014 Bassmaster Classic

Zombies from the Deep? Two Beluga Whales Come to ‘Life’ in Anchorage

World Fishing Network, the leading entertainment destination and digital resource for anglers throughout North America, delivers a rockin’ episode of its signature magazine format show, World Fishing Journal, Sunday, May 4 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET.

World Fishing Journal brings together a roster of talented sports producers to craft engaging, story-driven features based around the angling community and fishing industry on a monthly basis. Episode 8 presents three unique segments that include:

Rock the Ocean: The Tortuga Music Festival: The motto of Rock the Ocean, which orchestrates the annual Tortuga Music Festival , one of the most popular music events of the year, states ‘We’re not trying to save the world… just 3/4 of it.’ It’s truly a music festival with a cause. Some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Hank Williams Jr., Train and Ziggy Marley, just to name a few, play for a purpose in front of the masses on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Rock the Ocean president, Chris Stacey, is the man on the hot seat in sunny Florida. With so many big names performing on stage, there’s no doubt it’s an incredible lineup. The question for Chris and his team: Will their message of conservation be heard along with all the great music?

Life-Like: World Fishing Journal goes behind-the-scenes with one of the preeminent fish and wildlife replica teams in the world, Advanced Taxidermy. Timelines are tight and the stakes are high as they tackle one of their most daunting jobs ever undertaken as they recreate two life-size beluga whales for display in time for the grand opening of the new Cabela’s in Anchorage, Alaska.

Life at The Classic: Mikey & The Reelers get to fulfill a lifelong dream as the band lets loose and rocks out (we told you this episode rocks) at the 2014 Bassmaster Classic in Birmingham, Ala. If you’re neither a ‘Reeler Head’ nor familiar with the band, Mikey & The Reelers sing fishing songs for fans of fishing. This high-energy, packed-full-of-fun, country-rock band knows music, entertainment and fishing. Their debut album, Live to Fish, encompasses all the fun aspects of the ‘reel life.’

So while we’re serious about this being a rocking episode of World Fishing Journal viewers won’t want to miss, we admit the zombie whales are a bit of a stretch. But as the old fishing saying goes, “When in doubt, exaggerate.”
