MUCC and Freshwater Future Partner to Host Conservation Leadership Training

Michigan United Conservation Clubs, with assistance from Freshwater Future, will be hosting Conservation Leadership Training this June for current and future organizational leaders, so that the conservation community can continue to build our power and effectiveness here in Michigan. This training is designed for new Board Members, organization members in leadership roles, conservation partner organization volunteers and staff, or those desiring to hold a future leadership positions in any conservation organization.

Held on June 19-21, 2014 at the RAM Center in Roscommon, participants will develop and enhance their skills in:

  • Grant writing and fundraising– Policy making process and non-profit advocacy
  • Board Leadership and Governance,
  • Developing a Communications Strategy
  • Using technology for volunteer recruitment

In addition, time will be built in for fun and informal networking with fellow leaders of organizations, as well a reception with agency staff from the Department of Natural Resources and Natural Resources Commissioners.

Attendees must sign up for Conservation Leadership Training by June 10 to guarantee a spot. The fee is $100 to offset the cost of materials and instructors, there will be additional costs for meals and overnight accommodations and you can choose the plan that works best for you. Participants can also choose to sign up only for the Fundraising and Grant Writing Workshop on the morning of Friday, June 20 for $25.
