Team Safariland’s Koenig and Leatham Take Wins at the World Action Pistol Championship and the NRA Bianchi Cup

Safariland congratulates team members Doug Koenig and Rob Leatham on their wins over the past two weekends at the World Action Pistol and NRA Bianchi Cup Championships. Koenig took his sixth win at the World Action Pistol Championship in Rockcastle, Kentucky, in a hard fought battle. At the NRA Bianchi Cup, the following week, Rob Leatham won the Production Class, making it his tenth win.

This year the World Action and Bianchi Cup Championships were held back to back. The format of both matches was the same, with Mover, Falling Plates, Practical and Barricade events challenging all competitors. It was a long two weeks for those that competed in both events, but in the end Team Safariland stood atop the podium.

In Koenig’s pursuit to win the “Worlds”, he achieved a score of 1918-184x, beating more than 150 top shooters from around the world for the championship. He then finished runner up at the Bianchi Cup in a close and challenging competition. It was Kevin Angstadt, wearing his Safariland rig, who came out on top with his first win of the championship with a score of 1920-171x. In both matches Koenig used the Safariland ELS Competition Belt System and the 014 Open Class Holster, which allowed him concentrate on the match at hand.

“I have been shooting with Safariland gear for over 20 years now and I attribute this, in part, to my overall success. I never have to worry about my equipment so I can focus completely on my shooting,” said Koenig. Leatham added, “I second that! After all these years of competing with top notch gear, it is the least of my worries. I can focus on each and every shot, knowing my gear is perfect.” Leatham used the Safariland ELS Belt System and Model 5198 holster to claim his tenth Bianchi Cup Championship. He has truly set the standard with the Production class and is always a tough competitor.

In the Bianchi Cup Speed Event Doug took Open Class and Rob won the Production Class, both using their Safariland gear. The Industry Shoot-off was a battle between Team Safariland’s Scott Carnahan and Rob Leatham. The two went head to head with Rob pulling out the win with only a .10 of a second advantage over Carnahan in the first run, a .08 second advantage in the second run, in a best of three format. The Safariland gear used in all the matches allowed the team to put their all of their attention on their match.
