Michigan Lt. Governor’s Charity Sporting Clays Shoot to Benefit Outdoor Education Programs

Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley and former Lieutenant Governor John Cherry will host the 22nd Annual Lt. Governor’s “Get Kids in the Outdoors” Charity Shoot on June 13 at the Grand Blanc Huntsman’s Club. The shoot raises funds to benefit the Michigan OutofDoors Youth Camp in Chelsea and other youth outdoor education programs.
All shooters will receive lunch, refreshments, a gift, ammo (12 and 20 gauge available), ear plugs, safety glasses and 50 targets at 13 stations. Entry starts at $100 for an individual or $50 for a student under 18. Prizes include $300 for the “Top Gun,” $200 for runner-up, $100 for second runner-up, and a traveling trophy for the top team.
Michigan United Conservation Clubs has operated summer youth camp programs continuously since 1947. During this time, more than 55,000 youth have learned to enjoy the outdoors safely and have left camp with a deeper appreciation and respect for the natural world they live in. The Michigan OutofDoors Youth Camp is locaded through the summer at the restored Cedar Lake Outdoor Center near Chelsea, MI. This camp exceeds any other youth nature education programming offered by most camps in Michigan by including conservation and ecology lessons as part of each and every camp day. During the week at camp, youth learn about ecological concepts and broaden their awareness of conservation issues through hands-on nature experience.
