Erzberg Success: Much More than Just a Ride up the Iron Mountain

The KTM Extreme Enduro Factory Team celebrated a great victory at the 20th edition of the Erzbergrodeo’s notorious Red Bull Hare Scramble on Sunday with a very convincing win by Jonny Walker on his KTM 300 EXC machine. But achieving success in such an important event is also dependent in KTM’s loyal partner Land Rover, as team manager Alex Doringer confirms.
“We had a great weekend with Jonny’s victory in the Red Bull Hare Scramble and having two of our factory riders on the podium was a real success. But an event like Erzberg is also dependent on transport and logistics, and on our successful partnerships. Here we have to give warm thanks to Land Rover for their support,” Doringer confirmed.
Jonny Walker made riding up the challenging Iron Mountain on Sunday look deceptively easy, but the team was very thankful for the use of the Land Rover Defender, a perfect vehicle for the onsite conditions, and for the use of the Range Rover Sprint vehicles for team transportation and other logistics.
“We were very happy to have Land Rover’s support with these vehicles, and we have to say without it, KTM’s and Jonny’s efforts to win this very tough event would have been all the more difficult. For very extreme events like Erzberg it is invaluable to have our Land Rover partner with us and we thank them for their contribution to Jonny’s victory,” Doringer added.
