Ruger LC9 “Shoot-Ability” for Concealed Carry
OutdoorHub 06.04.14
When it comes to concealed carry, it seems the smaller and easier a gun is to conceal, the harder it is to shoot. FMG Publications Online Editor Mark Kakkuri reveals one of his favorite concealed carry firearms: the Ruger LC9, which incorporates both a compact size and comfortable “shoot-ability” perfect for carrying concealed.
“The Ruger LC9 is thin, lightweight and therefore easily concealed. It carries comfortably in a Versacarry or Galco Stow-N-Go holster (both are inside the waistband) without gouging my side or feeling out of balance,” Kakkuri declares. “The Ruger LC9 is enough gun. With 7+1 rounds of 9mm on board, I’m carrying more than a typical revolver and more than enough for a civilian defensive situation.”

On GUNS Magazine’s website, Kakkuri takes a look at other important self-defense tools, such as the Karahawk from Spyderco. This highly functional tool comes with classic Spyderco easy blade deployment and proves its use in several arenas.
“Spyderco’s Karahawk, a design based on the Southeast Asian karambit, draws on the best features of that tool or weapon and takes the design even further in usefulness,” explained Kakkuri. “Months of use, both indoors and out, had no effect on the steel, the grip panels, the locking mechanism, nor the clip. The blade sharpened and cleaned up well and I never feared the tip breaking.”
