With the success of the Shooting Industry Masters, FMG Publications has continued to find new ways to support the industry and organizations it supports by partnering with Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) and introducing a golf tournament, which will take place Thursday, July 17 at the Indian River County Sandridge Golf Club.
The Shooting Industry Masters, owned and produced by FMG Publications, has had great success over the past decade because of the ongoing industry support and has sought to create new events in order to give back. This is the first time that the Shooting Industry Masters, which is celebrating its 12th year, will feature a golf tournament as part of its fundraising efforts.
“We at FMG Publications have considered it a privilege to support HAVA’s goal of helping wounded veterans rebuild their lives. To do that, HAVA needs financial support,” said Russ Thurman, Masters director and Shooting Industry Magazine publisher/editor. “That’s why we launched the Honors For HAVA golf tournament. We call upon those taking part in this year’s Masters, and others in the industry, to sponsor the tournament, provide prizes and enter to play the championship course. Your support will translate to lives changed.”
Hosted by Treasure Coast Sports and Indian River County, the “Honors for HAVA” golf tournament will benefit disabled combat veterans and will work to support HAVA’s mission, which is dedicated to supporting veterans’ healing through shooting sports.
“HAVA is an all-volunteer organization that helps wounded veterans with their healing process and rebuilding confidence in the future through active participation in guided hunts and the shooting sports,” said Tom Taylor, HAVA chairman. “We’re extremely honored to be the benefactor of the Shooting Industry ‘Honors For HAVA’ golf event.”
“We’re thrilled to kick off the 2014 Shooting Industry Masters with the Honors For HAVA charity golf tournament at Indian River County’s Sandridge Golf Club,” said Mike Zito, assistant county administrator from the Indian River County Commissioner’s office. “The golf course has been rated four-and-a-half stars by Golf Digest — this is South Florida golf at its finest.
