Salt Life’s Master Mariner Captain Cameron Kirkconnell Spears a Historical Yellowfin Tuna in the Ascension Islands

Salt Life, an authentic and aspiring lifestyle brand, is pleased to announce that Salt Life team member, Captain Cameron Kirkconnell has once again set the standard for world record spear fishing.
Just off of the Ascension Island in the South Atlantic Ocean, the 33-year-old Cayman Islands native said this world record catch is the equivalent to “shooting an elephant with a slingshot.” Weighing in at 219 lbs, 76″ long and 48.5″ in girth, only three tuna’s have ever been taken with a pole spear, all by Kirkconnell, and never above 32lbs. With no current record in this category, this is likely to be the most significant fish speared in history due to the degree of difficulty of the yellowfin tuna’s size and tackle used. Salt Life’s Larry Laska says, “Cameron is a world-class athlete and we are proud that he is a part of our Salt Life team.”
