Golub, a former FLW Tour pro who works for Allstate Insurance, started the day with electrical problems when he found out that nothing but his trolling motor and outboard motor would turn on. He still managed to earn his second BFL win on Oneida and weigh five live, healthy bass by filling his livewell with a bucket.

“I had a deep rock spot in about 11 to 14 feet that I found around 15 years ago,” said Golub. “It was before I used GPS and I had it lined up the old fashioned way. I caught my three biggest fish on it in the morning. I usually catch smallmouth there but for some reason there were largemouth there.”

Golub said that he caught his big morning fish on a white MOP Lures Blade Runner before moving to the shoreline to catch the rest of his limit. Golub targeted isolated grass, docks and rock with a Dirty Burd Lures Mud Bug Version 2 to finish his limit.

“It was good to win,” finished Golub. “I grew up fishing the lake but I hadn’t fished there in about a month. I just knew what the fish typically do with an east wind.”
