String of Podiums for Red Bull KTM at Spring Creek USA

Red Bull KTM Factory riders Ryan Dungey and Ken Roczen picked up a 2-3 at Rd. 8 of the US Pro MX on Saturday night in the 450-class competition while factory teammate Marvin Musquin finished second in the 250-class to make it a good day out for the Austrian brand at Spring Creek MX Park in Minnesota.
Roczen and Dungey stay at a clear 1-2 in the championship standings while Musquin is closing in on fourth place in the 250-class.
The 450-class teammates topped the fastest times leader board in the morning qualifying sessions to score the first two gate picks for the opening moto. Their choices paid off and they shot out of the gates at 1-2 in the opening moto with Dungey grabbing the holeshot. As the moto progressed Roczen quickly passed his teammate and locked in a race-long battle with Eli Tomac, his old 250-class adversary from last year’s 250 MX class. The two swapped positions multiple times but with five minutes to go, Tomac began to gain the advantage and went on to take the win. Roczen held on for second place while Dungey finished third.
“It was great to battle with Eli (Tomac) again,” stated Roczen. “I wish I had a little more for him at the end of the moto but I am happy to be on the podium.”
In the second moto, both KTM riders got away well again and were up front as they settled into the race. This time it was Dungey who battled with Tomac for the top spot, almost closing on his rear wheel near the halfway point. Tomac eventually took the win while Dungey finished second and Roczen crossed the line in fourth. Dungey finished second overall with his 3-2 result and Roczen’s 2-4 put him on the podium in third.
“I’m glad to land on the podium at my hometown race,” Dungey said after the second moto. “I felt really good today and am glad to be battling upfront.” Dungey and Roczen ride the KTM 450 SX-F.
Meanwhile in the 250-class Musquin got out of the gate to a top ten start in his first moto and was sitting in fifth place by the second lap. He passed Justin Bogle and soon after began a battle with Dean Wilson for a podium spot. The two riders swapped positions a number of times until Musquin made the pass stick around the halfway point. Once Musquin moved into third he began to pull away and close the gap on Christophe Pourcel. He then slipped past Pourcel going the sand whoops with three laps to go to finish second.
The French rider was seventh at the start of his second moto but by lap six he had advanced into fourth place where he remained through to the end of the race. His 2-4 result was enough to land him second overall and to move him up to a top five in the championship standings. Musquin rides the KTM 250 SX-F machine.
“I’m very excited to land on the podium again,” stated Musquin. “The track was really fun today and I am also glad to be back in the top five in the overall point standings.”
