Humminbird ONIX Earns ICAST 2014 “Best of Electronics”

ICAST 2014 marks the fourth consecutive win for Humminbird, no small feat considering the wealth and breadth of exciting new products in the show’s Electronics category.

In 2011 the Humminbird 1158c DI Combo earned the popular vote; in 2012, 360 Imaging followed suit as the biggest thing since the introduction of Side Imaging; in 2013, Bow 360 was championed by voters for bringing around-the-boat underwater imaging to boat bows.

Now, in 2014, voters have once again selected Humminbird as “Best of Electronics” recipient for the recently-introduced ONIX Series.

Additionally, fellow Johnson Outdoors Marine Electronics, Inc., brands Minn Kota and Old Town also took top honors. The Minn Kota Ulterra won Best of Boating Accessories and the Old Town Predator XL (powered by Minn Kota) Best of Boats. The Old Town Predator XL also won Best of Show, standing out as the media’s top pick for most impressive of all products released at ICAST 2014.

“It’s a real honor to be recognized by the world’s fishing media as the best in fishing electronics,” says Dale Logue, Director of Marketing, Humminbird®. “Even better that Johnson Outdoors brands were so well received across numerous ICAST product categories.”

Logue continues: “What these wins really validate is a lot of hard work – from engineering to our American manufacturing to customer service—which only strengthens our continued mission to create technologies and a ‘complete fishing system’ the gives anglers an edge on the water.”

Not only did ONIX score big with voters for its touchscreen control, but something called Cross Touch™, which allows users to take command of their unit display from touchscreen or touchpad.

Similarly, ONIX offers an unparalleled host of features and technologies never seen before in sonar/GPS combos, including the addition of industry-first proprietary Humminbird LakeMaster technologies like AutoChart Live and SmartStrike, which make real-time user-generated high-definition mapping and predictive fish patterning possible within the ONIX unit itself, no PC or upload to a server or cloud required.

Combine that with winning technologies like HD Side Imaging™, 360 Imaging, HD Down Imaging, DualBeam PLUS with SwitchFire, Precision GPS, built-in TriFuel cartography, 1024 x 768V screen resolution, and ethernet additions like RADAR, NMEA 2000 and L-M-H frequency CHIRP, and voters ultimately declared 2014 The Year of ONIX.
