Slumberjack Rebrands as SJK, Refocuses on the Outdoor Sportsman with New Product Offering

Partnering with camouflage supplier Kryptek, SJK introduces a complete line of hunt-specific packs, tree stand cloaks, and technical sleeping bags

After 57 years designing and developing outdoor gear for outdoor sportsmen, the tried and true Slumberjack brand is evolving, focusing on the outdoorsman market, and introducing a new line of hunting products under the name SJK. The recently introduced SJK brand will offer a complete line of Kryptek camouflage packs, tree stand cloaks, and technical sleeping bags designed specifically to give hunters an edge on any hunt.

SJK’s new line appeals to an emerging market of tactical hunters, introducing cutting edge features and functionality into every product.  Lightweight materials, durable construction, cutting edge Kryptek camouflage, and an extensive amount of input from our professional hunting guide partners at Outback Outdoors combine to create some of the most advanced equipment available.

“The hunting community is rapidly evolving, moving towards a more tactical approach to their outdoor experience, and we are leaders in this trend, addressing the needs of the emerging market with cutting edge equipment,” said Russell Rowell, Vice President of SJK Hunting.  “Our shift from Slumberjack to SJK meets the needs of the new hunting customer with products that feature materials and technology designed specifically for the modern outdoor sportsman.”

The new SJK product line includes new for spring 2015 sleeping bags and day packs as well as new for fall 2014 packs and tree stand cloaks. All SJK gear will be on display at the Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in Salt Lake City, August 6-9, 2014 in booth #24016.

Insulated with Slumberloft synthetic insulation and offered in three different temperature ratings, the new for 2015 Ronin sleeping bag provides excellent performance in a wide variety of climates and environments. Heavy-duty #8 zippers run down each side of the Ronin, providing excellent ventilation, versatility, and a bed-like sleeping experience. Four Velcro tabs near the top of the bag allow the zippers to be partially unzipped to give you ‘Arms Out’ functionality for reading, cooking, and organizing without leaving your sleeping bag. Delivering an impressive list of features at a price that’s hard to bet, the Ronin is available in -20 (5lbs, 11oz; $99), 0 (4lbs, 13oz; $89), and 20 (3lbs, 9.5oz; $79) degree versions.

The 1,600 cubic inch Strider is new for 2015 and comfortably carries everything you’ll need for a day in the blind.  A roomy main compartment easily handles gear and extra clothing while dual side pockets allow quick access to frequently used items. The front of the Strider features SJK’s proprietary Compression Carry System (CCS) that easily adapts for hauling bi-pods, trekking poles, and other gear.  Offered in Kryptek’s cutting edge Typhon, Highlander, and Mandrake camouflage patterns as well as Coyote Brown, the Strider blends seamlessly into almost any environment. SJK uses heavy duty 600D poly for superior tear resistance and durability.  The Strider weighs in at 2lbs, 4oz and retails for $129.95

The new for fall 2014 pack line includes five new packs, ranging in size from the essentials-only Flush 750 waist pack up to the fully-featured Bounty 4500.  SJK’s largest pack, the Bounty ($299) is a 74-liter pack featuring an expandable/detachable load-carry system that allows a game bag or other gear to be carried close to the body for better load support, a detachable day pack with organizational pockets for quick trips away from camp, and a built-in rifle shooting platform to help stabilize the shot.  Remove the entire pack bag and use the frame separately to create a highly versatile carry platform for larger loads.

Designed to offer protection from the elements and the freedom to stay mobile on the hunt or around camp, the SJK Thermal Cloak tree stand bag ($199) provides all-day warmth and comfort for cold, wet, stoic hours on the hunt.  Tactical hood features keep your peripheral vision and hearing sharp so you can see and hear approaching game.  Quiet, weather-ready fabrics repel wind, rain, and snow while 160g of synthetic insulation helps keep you warm all day.  The foot of the bag is open and long enough to cover boots, allowing you to stay warm and feel the edges of your tree stand to ensure proper footing.  Large, self-sealing (via magnets) arm ports allow you to silently move into bow or rifle shooting position.
