Relive Great Moments from Season One Ahead of the Season Two Premiere, Coming Sept. 7
World Fishing Network, the leading entertainment destination and digital resource for anglers throughout North America, delivers a mini-marathon of its signature magazine format show, World Fishing Journal, on Sunday, Aug. 3 starting at 5:30 p.m. ET.
World Fishing Journal brings together a roster of talented sports producers to craft engaging, story-driven features based around the angling community and fishing industry on a monthly basis. The World Fishing Journal mini-marathon includes popular segments from seven Season One episodes, including:
Original Redneck Fishing Tournament: Asian Carp have quickly had a negative impact on waterways and ecosystems throughout the Midwest. The threat is real as this invasive species now looks to spread into the waters of Lake Michigan and beyond. And while agencies at the national and state levels look for ways to reduce the impact of the Asian Carp, event organizer, Betty DeFord, and the participants of the Original Redneck Fishing Tournament in Bath, Ill. have come up with their own unique solution to this very serious problem.
Rock the Ocean: The Tortuga Music Festival: The motto of Rock the Ocean, which orchestrates the annual Tortuga Music Festival, one of the most popular music events of the year, states ‘We’re not trying to save the world… just 3/4 of it.’ It’s truly a music festival with a cause. Some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Hank Williams Jr., Train and Ziggy Marley, just to name a few, play for a purpose in front of the masses on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Rock the Ocean president, Chris Stacey, is the man on the hot seat in sunny Florida. With so many big names performing on stage, there’s no doubt it’s an incredible lineup. The question for Chris and his team: Will their message of conservation be heard along with all the great music?
The 2014 International Fly Fishing Film Festival: April Vokey hosts the premiere of the first IF4 in Canada. This International Fly Fishing Film Festival features short and feature length films produced by filmmakers from around the globe. See how these works of art come together and showcase the passion, lifestyle and culture of fly fishing.
Pure Michigan: Host Mark Melnyk goes one-on-one with the movers and shakers of Michigan’s fisheries. Mark speaks with the Chief of Fisheries, Jim Dexter; Fisheries Research Biologist, Todd Wills; Elyse Walter, Fisheries Communication Specialist; and Jim Francis, the Lake Erie Basin Coordinator. World Fishing Journal was also granted the opportunity to get the lay of the land from the boss man himself as Mark hits the waters of Michigan with Governor Rick Snyder in search of walleye and bass. Topics of discussion include his love of fishing, his governance and changes to the system, the widely-successful Pure Michigan campaign and the future of Michigan’s great fisheries.
Season Two of World Fishing Journal premieres Sunday, Sept. 7 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET and will include features on Stanley Cup Champion Willie Mitchell and UFC welterweight fighter Mike ‘Quicksand’ Pyle, plus we’ll take a look at Vermont’s summertime Free Fishing Day.
