Clam New Kenai Pro Plus Two New Scout Shelters

Three new models in the Clam one-person Fish Trap shelters are out for the next ice season: the Kenai Pro, Scout XLTC and the Scout XL Thermal. The Fish Trap Kenai has been one of the most popular one-person shelters on the market, especially in the opening price point category. Now with more features than ever, the Kenai Pro is an even better value boasting an all-new, lightweight and deeper tub with corner console able to fit right- or left-hand users’ easy access. While the exterior tub dimensions might be the same as the Kenai, the Kenai Pro tub is a new mold offering more storage capacity and includes an adjustable folding seat and a longer and wider hammock for extra storage. This one-person shelter is more versatile and comfortable with 11 square feet of fishable area and a center height of 64”, setting up 90” by 38” with the new canopy pole adding support and extra head room. The Kenai Pro packs down to 48”x32”x22” for one of the most comfortable yet easy-to-pack mobile shelters. Extremely lightweight at only 45 pounds, the Kenai Pro takes this opening price shelter (MSRP $279.99) to an incredible new level, without giving up comfort or convenience. The key to the Kenai Pro is the extremely lightweight and improved tub along with a canopy pole that adds support and more head room.

“The new Fish Trap Kenai Pro is full of great features, even if it is an entry-level model,” said Matt Johnson, manager of Clam pro-staff and IceTeam. “The oversized hammock, molded seat, newly designed sled with plenty of storage means the Kenai is packed full of features at an affordable price.”

Clam’s Scout shelters illustrate how Dave Genz pioneered the flip-and-go portable fish house. Now with a new tub design, increasing the usable space by 23% and even stronger, the Scout XLTC (thermal cap) and the Scout XL Thermal (full thermal) are setting the standards once again for the Dave Genz Legacy line of one-person, flip shelters. Unzip the front access door to an upgraded mesh seat that slides front to back. The interior 11 square feet, with a center height of 56 inches provides comfortable fishability. The hammock, extending the full length of the tub, is large enough for the trendy, longer rods and reels. At 46 pounds, with a thermal 600-Denier insulated cap, the Scout XLTC is a great run-and-gun flip shelter to stay toasty warm at an MSRP of $319.99.

The Scout XL Thermal is the same shelter design, with all the bells and whistles of the Scout XLTC, yet boasts a full thermal skin for comfort in the harshest conditions all winter long. The Thermal Trap Technology from Clam retains heat and reduces condensation. Same dimensions, plus the heavier thermal skin adds eight pounds for a total weight of 54 pounds.

The travel cover (#8760) for the two Scout XL models carries an MSRP of $49.99 and the Runner Kit (#8997) is $54.99.
