Missouri Triton Owner Markus Sykora Qualifies to Compete for Bass Fishing’s Largest Purse

Thousands of weekend bass fishermen dream about one day “turning pro” and fishing in a big-money tournament alongside their competitive angling heroes. Triton boat owner Marcus Sykora of Osage Beach, Missouri is about to make that dream a reality when he competes for $500,000 — the bass fishing world’s biggest prize — in the upcoming FLW Forrest Wood Cup championship bass tournament, slated for August 14-17 at Lake Murray South Carolina.
Sykora, 37, earned his berth in one of professional bass fishing’s most prestigious events by winning the $100,000 FLW BFL All-American bass tournament at Wilson Lake, Alabama in June. He has amassed a total of 22 top 10 finishes and eight first place finishes in BFL Series tournaments, plus two top 10’s in the Rayovac FLW Series Central Division. “For a guy like me that started out at the grassroots level fishing local weekend pot tournaments, actually being able to compete in the FLW Forrest Wood Cup is a dream come true,” Sykora said.
