New for 2015: Redesigned Ranger 600FS Fisherman Series
OutdoorHub 08.13.14
For nearly two decades, the Ranger Fisherman Series has been synonymous with big water multispecies angling. The acclaimed 600 hull design paved the way for fiberglass fishing boats in a market previously dominated by noisy, outdated aluminum designs. New for 2015, the iconic Ranger Fisherman Series raises the bar once again with the redesigned 600FS lineup, representing over 40 new features and the future of fishing for a growing population of anglers.
Based on the proven 600 Series running surface with input from Ranger’s renowned multispecies pro staff, the redesigned Ranger 600FS Fisherman Series includes a trio of wheel boats ranging from 19 to 21 feet in length. Rated from 225 to 300 horsepower and available with a host of precision-matched, factory-rigged outboards, the 600FS Fisherman Series offers serious multispecies anglers the opportunity to select the size, power rating and configuration that best suits their angling style and other requirements. With unmatched fishability, more fuel capacity in every model plus proven power and performance, these redesigned Dream Rigs are at home anywhere from the big waters of the Great Lakes to windy Southern reservoirs and impoundments across the country.
“I’ve probably had 15 or more Ranger boats in my life and I loved each just a little bit more than the one before it. But I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Ranger Pro Tommy Skarlis. “The redesigned 600FS Fisherman Series boats have changed the way multispecies boats will be made from now on.”
The enhancements to the Ranger 600FS Fisherman Series begin slightly below the waterline where a portion of the keel has been recessed to make room for a Hamby’s Keel Protector, which is now standard on the 619FS, 620FS and 621FS. Building a dedicated area for the keel protector not only enhances the aesthetics with a flush install but also helps minimize drag. The exterior of the boat reflects further refinements, including approximately two inch deeper sides, a larger rub rail, updated trade dress and a top deck stripe for even more customization possibilities.
A serious fishing machine must be long on serious fishing features, and the redesigned Ranger 600FS Fisherman Series boats excel in this area. Livewells are larger, providing more volume to keep fish healthy, with an adding rigging tray in the perfect spot to keep cull buoys and clip weights organized. To further streamline the process of getting a fish from the water to the weigh in, an oversized 33” ruler is built into the area behind the driver seat for easy access. There’s dedicated, built-in storage for landing nets and tools plus a wealth of storage options in both gunnels and under the consoles.
The fishability of the redesigned Ranger 600FS Fisherman Series is enhanced by Ranger’s patented Rite-Track Keel®, which keeps more of the hull in the water while fishing and less of it exposed to the wind. This not only works to minimize lateral drift, but also promotes easier trolling and solid tracking. Available in single- and dual-console configurations as well as with plexiglass or walk-through windshields, anglers can now also customize the transom area by selecting flush mount rod holders, a track system or stainless steel rails to flank either side of the available, built-in ski tow.
Inside the cockpit, which offers four pedestal seats, the new Soft Touch Skid-Resistant interior not only provides improved aesthetics, but also delivers a surface that stays cooler, dries faster and is easier on the knees and feet than traditional non-skid. The new covering provides a cushioning for anglers and represents a significant technological advance that’s not only durable, but visually striking as well. The overall cockpit area increased in each model as well, providing five to six inches of additional width while taller lid seals also help ensure the new 600FS Fisherman Series is the driest design to date.
Each redesigned 600FS Fisherman Series boat comes standard with a Lowrance HDS5 at the bow and a Lowrance HDS7 at the console with plenty of room to back mount even larger-screened electronics in both locations. Each boat is also paired with a Minn Kota 80 Terrova U.S. iPilot trolling motor and a 15×3 on-board charger. Beneath the padded front casting deck, the port, center and starboard storages feature a lined, gel-coated interior that are linked to Ranger’s innovative Power Ventilated Rod Storage (PVRS) system, which circulates air from a blower throughout the storage boxes to help dry out tackle and equipment after a busy day on the water.
The center rod locker can accommodate rods up to 8 feet, 6 inches in length with additional storage on both sides. The new design of the portside running rod rack offers more protection to stow rods up to 8 feet in length, while anglers will also be able to store rods on the front deck, thanks to an innovative system built into the front of the starboard side console that accepts rods up to 8 feet in length. An integrated cooler and baitwell reside forward of the passenger and driver consoles, respectively.
“This is a brand new product with a familiar name and a boat that can’t be duplicated anywhere else,” said Ranger Boats President Randy Hopper. “We combined everything we’ve learned over the last several decades to create the next generation of competitive, multispecies fishing boats and the results speak for themselves. The new 600FS Fisherman Series represents the kind of boats upon which Ranger’s heritage is built.”
All Ranger 600FS Fisherman Series boats come equipped with a custom-matched Ranger Trail® trailer, the strongest and smoothest traveling trailer on the road. The matching fiberglass fenders and all-channel-steel construction ensure long-lasting protection and complement the sleek design of the fishing platform. Additions to the 600FS Fisherman Series trailers include a built-in front step for easier front deck access when the boat is on the trailer and a self-latching coupler. Equipped with Ranger’s ultra-tough Road Armor finish, the Ranger Trail trailer comes standard with LED lights, aluminum wheels, full-sized spare, COOL Hub lubrication system, torsion axle suspension and a locking, swing-away tongue.
