The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, is proud to announce that the Hunting Works For America footprint has grown and now includes a state chapter in Colorado. Hunting Works For Colorado joins Arizona, Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Utah and Wisconsin as the ninth state to be included in the award-winning Hunting Works For America program.
The newly formed Hunting Works For Colorado partnership has more than 70 partner organizations and will be adding dozens more in the weeks and months to come.
Hunting Works For America, through its state organizations, is an initiative that seeks to bring a broad range of stakeholders together in order to educate the public and elected officials about the importance of hunting. Shooting sports organizations, conservation groups, businesses, and other non-traditional hunting entities such as chambers of commerce, convention and visitors bureaus and other trade associations, have come together to form Hunting Works For Colorado and share their interest in the economic impact of hunting.
“As the Hunting Works For America program continues to expand it is showing its worth, and not just to hunters and shooters,” said Chris Dolnack, NSSF senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “Business owners, economic development executives and tourism directors are all getting on board with the message of Hunting Works For America, hunting is part of our heritage and our economic prosperity. As someone who has visited Colorado to hunt big game I have seen firsthand the economic engine that hunting is to the local economy and I am looking forward to working with the diverse partner groups that signed on to help us spread the word about the importance of hunting in their beautiful state.”
Taxes, fees and surcharges that hunters pay when they purchase licenses, tags and equipment fund Colorado’s conservation efforts which benefit game and non-game species as well as anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
Hunting Works For Colorado launched today with a press conference at Jerry’s Outdoor Sports on North Avenue in Grand Junction. Hunting Works For Colorado is co-chaired by Tim Brass of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, Pat Martinez, a retired Colorado Department of Wildlife biologist, Pete Nichols, owner of Northwest Pawn Inc., Gaspar Perricone, president of the Bull Moose Sportsmen’s Alliance, Kirstie Pike, CEO of Prois Hunting and Fishing Apparel for Women, and Rich Spresser, president & CEO of Pester Marketing Company & Alta Convenience Stores.
Initially Hunting Works For America launched in 2010 with just three states, Hunting Works For Arizona, Hunting Works For Minnesota and Hunting Works For North Dakota. Since then the program has grown, adding chapters in Iowa, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Utah. All totaled, the Hunting Works For America program now represents more than 1,200, organizations and associations representing tens of thousands of stakeholders.
