Stan Allen and Bobbie Allen, both of Tybee Island, Georgia, weighed a two-redfish limit that totaled 9.00 pounds to win the final regular-season event for the Atlantic Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Cabela’s on Aug. 16 at Georgetown, South Carolina.

The team ran 30 minutes south from the launch and fished with Berkley Gulp!. The morning began with sunshine and a slight breeze but took a turn for the worse.

“The morning started off sunny with very little breeze. Then the clouds came in with rain, thunder and lightning,” said Stan Allen. “The tide was low so we fished oyster beds until the tide came in and then we just fished banks as close to grass as possible.”

The anglers won a fully rigged Ranger boat, plus $2,535 in Anglers Advantage cash for a total of $28,999 in winnings.

Second-place finishers Bruce Draper and Ricky Maldonado, both of Ridgeland, South Carolina, brought 8.62 pounds of redfish to the scales to take home $3,573. The duo spent two days pre-fishing before the event.

During the event, the team ran 40 minutes to the Cape Romain area where they caught their limit dead-sticking and free casting Berkley four-inch shrimp. Despite missing a “very good fish,” the anglers were happy with their performance.

Glenn Finley and Dodd Wood, both of Belton, South Carolina, have won four tournaments in their six years competing on the IFA Redfish Tour, including the recent Charleston, South Carolina event in May.

The team concentrated on three different areas with swim baits and popping corks with Berkley Gulp! at low tide.

“The water was a little more stained than we thought, but it was what we planned for,” said Finley. “We had a good day of fishing with very few missed opportunities. We can’t wait to do it again.”
