Texas Deer Association Convention Breaks National Records

The largest organization in Texas dedicated to deer enthusiasts and the rights of sportsmen and land owners, the Texas Deer Association (TDA) is proud to report its 16th Annual TDA Convention & Fundraiser was the most successful convention in the association’s history, setting new records for attendance and for the largest single sale event in the history of the deer industry in North America.
Held recently at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas, the TDA Convention hosted nearly 3,000 attendees from around the world — some from as far away as China — and welcomed hundreds of new members. The Superior Genetics Deer Auction and the Select Sale combined for $4.63 million which exceeded sales for all other deer industry events in the country. Some of the top buyers during the two auctions included DaVine Genetics of Belton, Texas; Spring Gap Ranch of Abilene, Texas; Cross Canyon Whitetails of Georgetown, Texas; and Texas Bone Factory of Logan, Ohio.
“We’re very excited for Texas to once again raise the bar for the deer industry nationwide in both sales and participation,” says TDA Executive Director Karl Kinsel. “The TDA Convention & Fundraiser is the state’s largest event dedicated to whitetail and mule deer, and it’s also a driving force for rural economies across the state and the nation. In Texas, the deer industry has exceeded the rice and citrus industries as economic contributors in the state, and our deer auctions play an important role in funding research that will improve the quality and health of our Texas deer.”
The annual TDA Convention & Fundraiser brings together thousands of deer enthusiasts from across the United States, Canada and Mexico, and always provides a wide variety of opportunities for continued education, networking and camaraderie for industry professionals. The event showcases exhibitors and new products from the hunting and deer industries; fund-raising auctions that include whitetail and exotic hunts, firearms and hunting equipment; educational seminars and round table discussions; antler contest, casino night, poker tournament, washer tournament, golf tournament, photo contest, ladies fashion show, fun youth activities and much more.
