In support of the airgun shooting sports, Umarex USA, Inc. announces the donation of a laminated RWS Model 54 air rifle to the American Airgun Field Target Association (AAFTA). The 54 is valued at over $750 and will go to auction at the 2014 AAFTA Nationals being held at the Evans Bridge Field Target Range in Heflin, Alabama, October 3- 5, 2014.
The donation was made in an effort to continue the promotion of Field Target as a competitive airgun shooting sport. Last year Umarex USA funded the filming of the 2013 AAFTA Nationals by the American Airgunner TV Show. That episode about Field Target airs Friday night, October 3rd at 8:30 pm Eastern on the Pursuit Channel, a network dedicated to hunting, shooting, and fishing.
“The money raised at the annual AAFTA auction from the beautiful RWS Model 54 will be invaluable to Field Target in the United States. Not only does the money raised help AAFTA grow, but also shows field target shooters Umarex USA’s commitment to making quality products available to them.” Said Doug Vinson, on behalf of the AAFTA Board of Governors. He continued, “In fact, two shooters placed second and fifth at the world championships in New Zealand this year with RWS Air Rifles.”
The 2014 AAFTA U.S. Field Target National Championship is being hosted by Airgunning Atlanta and Mount Cheaha Airgunners. The origin of Field Target dates back to 1980 and continues to grow in popularity. Learn more about the airgun sport that simulates hunting by visiting http://www.aafta.org/.
