SIG SAUER Pro Max Michel Repeats as National Champion

SIG SAUER, Inc., congratulates Max Michel, Jr., on successfully defending his United States Practical Shooting Association Open National Championship over the past weekend.

Held at the Southern Utah Shooting Sports Park in St. George, Utah, Sept. 21-28, the USPSA Handgun Nationals draw the best practical pistol competitors from around the world. Out of a field of more than 600 total competitors, a deep field of more than 200 took on the challenge of the Open Division Championship. But in the end, only one shooter came out on top.

“The competition at this match is on a whole new level than most majors,” Michel said. “With more than 80 Grand Masters and Masters shooting over 28 stages, you have to be near perfect every day to have a chance.”

Michel repeated as national champion in a close match. His 2981.9460 match points were less than 1.5% better than the second-place competitor.

“The focus required to survive such a long match is intense,” Michel said. “Fortunately, I don’t have to worry about the reliability of my SIG SAUER, which gives me a bit of an advantage.”
