The Franklin Armory BFSIII M4

In today’s review, we’re going to take a look at the Franklin Armory BFSIII M4 which comes stock with the Franklin Armory binary trigger system.

Having an AR-15 has become a rite of passage for today’s gun owner. What makes the AR-15 so special is not just the utility of the rifle, but also it’s customizability. Anyone from a novice to an experienced armorer can take a stock rifle and turn it in to something that is unique to their needs and desires. One of the most common upgrades that an owner will look to is their trigger system.

When it comes to your AR-15 trigger, there are countless options on the market. Whether you want a drop-in trigger system or a fancy flat front titanium trigger, you can have your pick. One of the most unique options, however, is a binary trigger. The binary trigger system has had many moments in the spotlight and also many people wondering if they are truly as cool as they seem.

Personally, my answer to that question is yes, they really are that cool. I had the opportunity to check out a BFSIII M4 which is manufactured by Franklin Armory. The BFSIII M4 is an AR-15 variant rifle which comes stock from the factory with the Binary Firing system from Franklin Armory.

If you aren’t familiar with what a binary trigger does, let me explain. A standard trigger system on a semi-automatic rifle will fire a round with each trigger pull. Once you release the trigger after the initial pull, the trigger resets and you are ready to fire another round. A binary trigger will also fire a round with each trigger pull, however the release of the trigger will also fire a round. So, with every trigger pull and release you are firing two rounds rather than one with a standard semi-automatic rifle.

Binary triggers are perfectly legal, with the exception of the standard less free states of CA, DC, IA, NJ, NY, HI, DE, RI, FL, MD, CT, or WA. If you live in a State that allows binary triggers, you won’t need a special permit or tax stamp to purchase the BFSIII M4, you can buy one just like any other gun on the market depending on your local process.

Using the BFSIII M4 was something that I was not expecting to enjoy as much as I did. I had the rifle with me in Texas and used it in a few different applications, from shooting steel to hunting hogs, and I had an absolute blast with the rifle. It performed very well in the conditions and cycled without fail through the 300+ rounds I fed through it.
