The Best Survival Blankets on the Market by Titan Survival

I have purchased A LOT of mylar survival blankets in my days. Most of them have been $1 a piece. You know the ol’ saying, “you get what you pay for” well that saying couldn’t be more true when it comes to the cheap, $1 mylar survival blankets.

Don’t get me wrong, in a pinch, they’ll work. But when it comes to the many purposes that I would be wanting to use them for, knowing I have something more durable to handle whatever I need to use it for, is a weight off my shoulders.

This is why I’ve started paying more attention to the quality of mylar blankets more than the price. I was recently introduced to the XL Emergency Survival Blankets by Titan Survival and I was immediately impressed before I even opened it up.

These blankets are thick. I have had some very thin and flimsy mylar blankets but these look like they could stop a tank. Or at least some very strong wind.

Once I opened up the XL mylar blankets, it was the longest and biggest mylar blanket I had ever seen.

It was raining so I ran outside and used it to keep me dry in the rain. It worked like a charm. I let it fold over close to my body and immediately felt it reflecting my heat to keep me warm.

This is an XL blanket coming in at 70 x 90 inches. A standard mylar blanket is around 54×84 inches so that’s a large improvement in size! The size of the blanket doesn’t mean this isn’t compact, when folded it’s only 5 x 3.5 x 2 inches. Still plenty compact enough to throw in any bag, vehicle, first aid kit or anywhere else.

It’s strong and sturdy and would make an excellent temporary shelter for the whole family because there’s plenty of room for everyone to be underneath it.

While the reflective aspect of mylar is something to be sought after for an emergency situation, it can also be an eyesore if you’re just wanting to use it for some shelter. These Titan Survival mylar blankets have the option for camo print on one side and the mylar on the other. This way you can still be discreet but also have the many benefits of the mylar.

Here are the top 10 ways I use an emergency mylar blanket:

  1. Shelter
  2. Reflect heat/Warmth
  3. Signal for help
  4. Make a sling
  5. Emergency poncho
  6. Collect rainwater
  7. Solar still
  8. Cover windows to block the sun
  9. Signal
  10. Block signals

There are, of course, 101 ways to use a survival blanket, but these are the major ways one might use them.

You can’t go wrong with having a mylar blanket around, but more specifically, the Titan Survival mylar blankets are a step above the rest and I’d much rather rely on these for my survival needs than anything else.

When it comes to survival gear, I know that quality matters. Especially when it comes to items that I know I won’t often, but when I need to use it, it’ll be a very serious situation and I’m going to want to know I can count on it in a desperate situation.

These MSRP at $49.95 for a pack of 5. A must-have for every piece of kit and they also make great gifts!
