Review: Does The PHLster Enigma Express Holster Live up to the Hype?

I had been ho-humming about getting the PHLster Enigma holster for a long time. It looks so amazing, but does it really work?

I saw my friend showcase it and rave about it. I spoke with her directly about it and she gave me some excellent pointers, that I plan to share here, as well, which convinced me to get it.

In October of 2022, I took the plunge and ordered one.

I purchased the PHLster Enigma Express for my Sig Sauer P365.

When you first receive it, it looks a little intimidating. It took me some time to even want to figure it out. Once I eventually did get down to business to get it adjusted to me, I definitely had to go watch some videos and read directions.

However, that’s actually what I would recommend in this case. Most things you may be able to ‘figure it out’ but in the case of the PHLster Enigma Express, I recommend you very closely watch videos and read the directions to get it properly adjusted for you.

The most confusing part of the adjustment was the leg strap, but once I watched a video, it was simple. Their instruction guides are top notch and really easy to understand. I also really appreciate the leg strap as it’s one extra way to keep the holster, and firearm, snug in place no matter how much movement I make.

Since I did get the Enigma Express, it came with a holster for my P365, the holster is comfortable, well made and has top-notch retention. It’s actually worn the opposite way than you would normally wear a holster, which breaks my brain a little each time I put it on. However, it does conceal a lot better this way and it’s just as comfortable.

Once it was all adjusted to me and where I wanted it to sit, I took some advice from my friend.

I’m a woman, so wearing this leg strap means it might get in the way of nature’s call. She advised me to put the leg strap on first, then put my undergarment on. This way, when you have to use the restroom, you’re not having to unstrap the leg strap nor are you having to do some other uncomfortable maneuvers just to go to the bathroom.

I haven’t found any of the straps to be uncomfortable. This is a main concern for most people; do the straps dig into your skin and make it uncomfortable?

For me, this has never been an issue, and I’ve had the straps pretty tight against my body.

After several months of wearing it, it has quickly become my go-to holster. It’s the one I’m choosing to wear over all my other holsters because of comfort, how well it conceals and how well it’s made.

There are a lot of accessories that can go along with it but I didn’t get the opportunity to try any of them yet. I just went with the basic Enigma Express option to get up and going. They also have options for light bearing firearms.

If you’ve been on the fence, take this as a sign to invest in this piece of concealed carry equipment. Take the time to get it adjusted right for you and you’ll never want to wear anything else again.

The PHLster Enigma Express Holster starts at $154
