Review: BioLite FirePit+ – Efficient and Portable Way to Have a Fire

BioLite has been killing it with its innovations lately. I have had the pleasure of testing their headlamps, power banksĀ and charging station. They’ve all been incredible in their own ways. I love a company that always wants to be the best at what they do and continue to improve.

Recently they upgraded their FirePit to the FirePit+. The improvements with the BioLite FirePit+ include:

  • an upgraded body design
  • high-temp enamel coating for extra durability
  • 12,800 mAh battery for longer burn times

The overall weight is 19.8lbs. It can easily be carried from one place to another with handles on each side.

You can burn wood or charcoal. There are places you may not be able to have a fire, even in a contained system like this, but charcoal may be allowed. Never hurts to have more options!

It says it’s a smokeless system, but I wouldn’t exactly call it zero smoke. Does it reduce smoke? Yes, absolutely. But it’s not a ‘no smoke’ system. It does drastically reduce the visible smoke, though.

The greatest thing about this is the battery pack which pushes air toward the fire. You can control it manually or with an app connected via Bluetooth. I forgot to charge it when I first got it, but even so, it had plenty of power available to be able to get the fan going.

The fan has a few different speeds and when fully charged, it can run 30 hours on low, 1 hours on medium and 7 hours on high. Those are all impressive times and I wouldn’t be worried at all when it comes to keeping my fire going strong.

The whole point of the fan is to beef up your fire. It’s like blowing on it, but you know, you let the fan do all the work! Work smarter, not harder!

This is not a charging system, as in, you can’t charge your devices with it, that’s not what it’s made for it. It’s made to simply give airflow and control how little or big the flames are. It’s fun to play around with the fan to see how it affects the fire. You can visibly see the difference in the fire.

I love the added grate for cooking. You can place food directly on the grate or even use a pot or pan. The grate can be slid on and off effortlessly.

I see they sell a separate grill lid for the FirePit. That would be an amazing option for additional grill options. They also sell a griddle for the FirePit. All kinds of awesome accessories to go along with it for added benefits.

As it stands with what it comes with, I am so impressed. I love that the legs fold in and make it even more compact to be able to take it in your car or off-road vehicle to use while camping.

It’s safe, contained, and easy to clean as well. This is the type of system you can use at home, while camping, RVing or at hunt camp. I’d even do a catch-and-cook with this system!

At $299, the BioLite FirePit+ is a great addition for home or away adventures.
