Game Changer: Solo Stove Pellet Adapter

We have a pellet stove at home. When we found out Solo Stove came out with a pellet adapter for their stoves, I was actually really excited! Being able to use fuel for two different systems is a great asset to us. Pellets are easy to store and they’re quite cheap. We store wood as well, but it never hurts to have options!

Our Solo Stove is already efficient with just wood, so we wanted to see how efficient it would be with pellets with the Solo Stove Pellet Adapter.

Not gonna lie, getting the pellets started was a bit of a challenge. The instructions said to use a specific pellet fire starter that we didn’t have so we had to work at it for a minute to get it going. This was in no way any failure of the pellet adapter, this was user failure.

We also put way too many pellets in the beginning, it needed a bit of airflow and we basically tried to fill it up like the instructions said that we could.

However, the instructions were basically just saying that there’s a limit to how full it can get, not that you should immediately fill it all the way right from the beginning.

So anyway, don’t make our mistakes!

Place a thin layer of pellets on the pellet adapter, use a few fire starters scattered around and allow it to get started.

Sometimes pellets may take a second to really get going, but once they get going, wow they don’t stop!

We brought out a large bowl full of pellets and we honestly only used maybe a couple cups of pellets. You can continue to add pellets, just make sure not to smother the flame, which can be easier to do with pellets than wood because you’re usually putting in a handful of small items at a time instead of a large stick, ya know?

So just be careful not to smother the flame by putting a few pellets on the flame and scattering the rest around the flame. It will all catch.

I was very impressed with how hot and large the flame got! It lasted quite a while, too.

If you do fill it to the top (how much you can fill it will depend on the size of your Solo Stove) you can get about a 2 hour burn time! Very impressive.

The other accessories like the cast iron cooktop can also be used along with the pellet adapter. As long as you’re using pellets that are food-grade safe, there’s really no difference between using wood and using pellets, you can use it as you normally would!

The coals were surprisingly warm, as well! Just about as warm as any other wood coals. Obviously pellets are compressed wood so it makes sense, but I just didn’t know the pellets would have been that hot for that long.

It’s easy to clean up. Just take the adapter out, shake off, wipe off, badda boom, badda bing!

At just $49, you can add even more fuel options for your Solo Stove by getting this pellet adapter! I think it’s 100% worth it. Pellets are cheap, easy to store (keep them dry) and you use very little to get a good, long burn.
